Kolawole was born and raised in Federal Way, Washington to Nigerian parents from Ondo State, Nigeria. Growing up in an immigrant household and in Federal Way, he was seeded with a love for history, culture, and community action. In practice, his experience as a Marketing and Communications professional for the last 10 years has helped build local/global brands.
A consistent throughline in his work is storytelling and bridging cultural, tech, and talent gaps. He currently achieves this through his two organizations: Africa Now, a non-profit that educates and connects the African Diaspora, and Represent Solutions, an agency that builds community-powered outreach campaigns. He also works as the General Manager of Marketing & Communications at Common Power, a civic action organization that moves people from education to action.
