Vanessa Abuachi is a white, Latinx mental health therapist with years of experience working with children, teens and adults who have experienced incarceration, homelessness and significant childhood trauma.
Vanessa opened a private practice in 2020 called Curación Counseling which serves adults, couples and families.
She led a poetry project out of the King County Juvenile Detention Center with youth for five years, and a second project out of 1811 Eastlake, a DESC residency, for adults struggling from long-term substance abuse and the effects of chronic homelessness.
She holds an MA in Cultural Studies with a focus in prison abolition from University of Washington, and an MAEd in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Seattle University.
Additionally, she has spent the last three years researching the ripple effect of hate crimes for the City of Seattle, and the impact these crimes have on the local communities most targeted.
