KimberlyKimberly is an internationally-recognized speaker, writer and workshop presenter on student-driven learning and inquiry-based instruction. Her workshops and videos are well-known throughout the international school community, and she is praised for her “accessible, engaging and practical” approach to inquiry. 

Kimberly currently teaches aspiring teachers at the University of Washington’s College of Education and is co-founder of Inquiry Partners, a professional learning organization dedicated to guiding teachers in the most powerful inquiry-based teaching strategies for all grade levels and subject areas.

Kimberly started her career in education over 25 years ago with the Teach for America program. She taught fifth grade in Los Angeles, California, bilingual Kindergarten at Colegio Americano in Quito, Ecuador and Middle School Science in East Los Angeles. She was Assistant Principal of Chief Sealth High School in Seattle, Washington where she helped develop the school’s international curriculum, and Principal at the American Community Schools in Athens, Greece, where she launched the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP).

After receiving many accolades as a teacher and school leader, Kimberly was recruited by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to join their team as a Senior Program Officer leading large-scale statewide education portfolios during the Obama administration. Kimberly then joined the international organization, Teach for All, as Director of Partner Engagement in Buenos Aires, Argentina where she supported new teachers to teach in low-income areas of the country.

Kimberly is married to an independent school teacher and has two school-aged children. She co-chairs of the Ambassador Board at the University of Washington’s College of Education and is the former Chair of the International Baccalaureate Americas Regional Council, Founding Chair for Green Dot Schools in Washington, and Teachers United.

Kimberly received her BA in History and Philosophy from Skidmore College and her MA in Administration and Policy Analysis from Stanford University. She is pursuing her doctorate in Learning Sciences at Johns Hopkins University.
