Empowering African Community Leaders in WA State
We are rising together to impact educational initiatives in the communities we serve. At Mission Africa, we are dedicated to empowering communities through education locally. Whether through our annual backpack drive, where we have provided thousands of students in King County, Washington State, with essential school supplies, or our digital navigation classes, where we have equipped hundreds of learners of all ages to master computer basics and confidently navigate advanced programs, we continue to create opportunities and drive lasting change.
Notably, we're Rising Together to develop our African Community Leaders by providing training that teaches real-world skills that can be immediately used to make a meaningful impact. We empower local leaders with practical tools and insights to grow their leadership. Featuring dynamic guest speakers with interactive discussions, activities, and dinner. We get together for our African Community Leaders Luncheon, a Symposium, an Estate Planning Workshop, and our Rise and Lead Capacity-Building Workshops.

Back-to-School Community Outreach Events
Mission Africa: Empowering Students for a Successful School Year
Since 2006, Mission Africa has hosted an annual back-to-school event, dedicated to supporting students and families in need. Through this initiative, we have distributed thousands of backpacks filled with essential school supplies to elementary school children. Our mission is to serve diverse communities, including immigrants, underprivileged families, and minority groups, ensuring that every child has the tools they need to succeed in school without the added stress of lacking the necessary supplies.
In addition to providing school supplies, our back-to-school event also emphasizes the importance of health and well-being. We partner with healthcare professionals, including dentists, physicians, and cardiologists, to offer health education to children and their families. Parents receive valuable information on how to maintain their children's health, and each child is sent home with hygiene products to promote their overall well-being.
Thanks to the generosity of our dedicated volunteers, we are able to make this event successful every year. We are committed to empowering children in Washington State, to achieve their academic goals.
Our next back-to-school event is scheduled for August 2025. We invite you to join us in making a difference in the lives of children in need.
Youth Summer Camp
Mission Africa is dedicated to creating cultural awareness and empowering youth of African descent in the PNW, ages 4-18, by providing fun and educational experiences during the Summer Camp.
At the Mission Africa Summer Camp, we focus on teaching our youth about different African cultures, as they enjoy the delicious dishes from five rejoins of the African continent, they also learn how to greet and count in different African languages, play games, learn dance steps and explore African fashion.
The camp was funded by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, Schools Out WA and Mission Africa.
Our gratitude goes to the key partners who made this project possible: OSPI, Schools Out Washington, Live Life Church, Camp Counselors and Staff, and the parents who are volunteering their time. We’re especially proud of Mission Africa's ongoing commitment to educating our youth and serving our community!
Education Globally
We are proud to announce that our 50 scholarship students from Abia State, Nigeria have all graduated. This marks the 3rd cohort of 50 students to benefit from our 6-year scholarship, making it a total of 150 high school graduates from the program. We have had a 100% graduation rate with each cohort and 65% of our graduates have gone on to post-secondary education while others learn life skills. We’re especially grateful to you who sponsored individual students and look forward to continuing this life-changing work together, as we welcome a new cohort of students in September.
